wow, Malkins moved and nobody has anything to say about it? I know i was expecting to get ripped or something. But from my standpoint, this team needed some young assests. I believe i got some of those in this deal. You can never trade players of this caliber and get the same in return, But spread out over these 5 players i believe i got my value. One franchise Tender, a young up and coming winger, two young d one puck mover and one stay at home, and high risk high reward player in Turris. Best of all these guys are all under the age of 25 and not in there prime.

The return is nice, but I think he could have garnered a lot more if you waited to hear more offers. Two days isn't a whole lot of time. I was even planning on putting together an offer, but I was going to wait until the weekend since I was swamped this week

You got decent return but I agree that you should have waited longer and seen what kind of offers were out there.

I think the return was good and it's easy to say he could have gotten more now that the trade is done. To be honest though, not sure how many GM's could have offered a package like that or better. I'm sure there are a few but still if you wanted Malkin, an offer could have been made. If SJ thinks that was the best he could have got, then why not take it based on what else had been offered. I'm not that high on Lee but otherwise think he did well and that team needed a makeover and some young players. When the old GM had SJ (who was a friend of mine), I urged him to trade Malkin because it would have taken way too long to build that team otherwise there just weren't enough assets. While trading Malkin is not easy, SJ now has quite a few young assets and with some smart drafting could be right back in the mix.

those who say he should have waited longer, do relise the longer he waited, the more and more likely it would have been wally getting malkin! and that cannot happen!

I'm tryin phase out all my terrible russians, not bring in more. Once radulov comes back and scores some goals he's gonzo too.

bad deal for sharks...and im not just bitter about coming in 2nd place for Malkin theres nothing there with 100% certainty of star potential. Mayebe Turris and Varlamov but both are still question marks...

Mayebe Turris and Varlamov but both are still question marks... I think that's my issue with it. Varlamov and Turris have potential but that's about it. They have a lot to prove and I'm pretty sure Brian Lee has been around forever. I think the better way to go about it is to hold onto him until a deal comes around that blows you away ... there was no immediate need to deal him even though the team needs assets.
