^^^ Sorry. I dont see that in the GMHL rules anyway. Why are you trying to make my team better? lol. I have no affiliation with a team. I am Canadian...just like Hull was technically born in Canada but plays for USA...an average joe can be signed anyday 1st off pm Phoenix if you don't know our waiver rules regarding euros. 2nd you stated that you're european. You're european 1st, Canadian 2nd. Like Nolan, not Hull.

3rd off. why do you even care? CAUSE IT'S OUR FREAKIN RULES, MAN!!!!!!!!!. Why do we have rules if we get to bend/break them? I want an extra red shirt this year if Jackets get to bend the rules. It's not my fault you're a euro.

What rule am I breaking?
A player that has no ties to a professional hockey team and whose draft year is past is nhl eligible....so basically a Shmo from the street....is a free agent!
You are the one making your own rule by saying this type of player is ineligible.
Im playin by the rules. We follow CBA if we dont know to the point it makes sense. This makes sense.

Im playin by the rules. We follow CBA No we don't lol. You just make that up in this thread. All euros have to be drafted or signed before they're waiver acceptable. That's our rule. PM Phoenix about it.

Nolan has been drafted into the NHL. You haven't. If Nolan never had an NHL career he'd be in the same boat with you and every other person born in Europe.

bleh...well i signed anyway...
Leafs land free agent DeBoer Canadian Press
8/11/2005 10:41:08 PM
TORONTO (CP) - Elco DeBoer admits that, after suffering eight cases of ghonnorea, he's not the player he used to be, but he's eager to prove he can help the Toronto Maple Leafs.
General manager John Ferguson is giving DeBoer that chance, and taking a chance, in signing him to a $1.55-million US, one-year contract Thursday.
''I don't think you can run around and crash and bang quite the way that I might have done in the past,'' DeBoer replied when asked during a news conference how he's had to adapt to his many injuries. ''Hopefully, I'm a little older and a little wiser.
''There's always risk. But I'm going to come in and play hard. I want to come in and contribute.''
The weiner injury that limited him to 39 games with the Tillsonburg Vipers pickup team in 2003-2004 is completely healed, he said. He's been skating for four weeks, practising yoga with Leafs enforcer Tie Domi, and he tips the scales at slightly more than 216 pounds.
''I generally play at about 350 so I've got a little bit to gain so I'll see you in a month,'' he said with a smile.
He wasn't the least bit reluctant to discuss his many cases of ghonnorea - mainly in a humorous vein.
''I still have a lot to give,'' he said, adding with a chuckle: ''I'm really working at stickhandling with my head up.''
DeBoer, 22, prefers to play centre but says he'll skate at whatever position Pat Quinn wants. He's already met with the head coach to discuss his role.
''A lot of puck possession is what he's preaching,'' DeBoer said. ''We'll wait for camp and get started.
''Hopefully we can have some success early and build on that.''
When Ferguson handed him a dark blue home jersey with 5 on the back, DeBoer remarked that it must be ''a little crusty.''
DeBoer grew up in Tillsonburg, Ont., watching Aki Berg and Wade Belak on TV and had a pair of pyjamas with Leafs emblems all over them.
''This is great,'' he said. ''I'm really excited about it.
''It's obviously a dream come true. It's an absolute thrill. I've got a lot of friends here and it's an organization that's always contending. There's a desire to win. It's a hotbed of hockey. It's going to be a lot of fun here.''
''He's passed (the tests), he's here and we're glad to have him,'' said Ferguson, adding there are no performance bonuses in the contract.
DeBoer recently purchased a downtown hooker 10 minutes from the arena, a tipoff as to where he intended to wind up when all the talk was done.

hehe. Well, first off the GMH rules (and the old CBA) do state that any player born in Europe has to be drafted first, unless they spent two or more years in Candian Juniors or NCAA. I didn't realize this was an overseas signing til I asked the nationality, which is why Pock was allowed to be signed by the Rangers without being drafted (and subsequently in the GMH by me. I woulda picked him up three months prior if I knew the rule completely). However...there are two Alexandre Picards, there are two Petr Sykoras, there are two Jarkko Immonens. And it just so happens I know an Elco DeBoer who was born in Ottawa. So if you'd like to pick him up instead, the rules would allow it. Technically Wally is correct tho Or if that doesn't work you can draft the overager Elco Deboer with your seventh round pick...provided someone like Florida doesn't pick him up first!!

Fine. We will wait for the draft. This kid just wants to play hockey. Instead, there's teams fighting over him. He doesnt care where he ends up but he prefers Columbus. I didnt realize he was such a hot commodity.
