it would be pretty easy to put such a formula in Excel. With my "Magical Ratings Sorter"(c) excel, you can throw a formula at the whole ratings package in minutes

the trade between NYR and CGY can not be processed. NYR will be over the limit with this trade. He can't drop Tanner Glass as Glass was dropped in another previously.
TO RANGERS Dustin Penner Michael Ryder Michael Peca Jason Smith Noah Welch Brett McLean (PHX Prospect) Dallas 3rd in 09 Col 1st in 10
TO COLORADO Kristian Huselius Alexei Kovalev Chris Kelly Vyacheslav Kozlov
NYR Drop Jakub Klepis and Tanner Glass...

I'm seriously considering using the NHL player's NHLPA cap hit instead of an aribtary number assigned by the DVHL. Reasoning being DVHL uses a free agent system themselves, so they get some pretty ludicrous numbers as well (although not as crazy as the Streit deal). Either that or we just assign everyone in the league a salary based on ratings like Blues said, although I would not want age to factor in. I would totally be against using the NHL's salary. There are too many example of luadcris salaries and too many other factors that come into place that involve more luck than skill. Also I feel age should be a factor in a player's rating. In different age brackets I think a players salary greatly differs in the NHL compared to their on-ice peformace which may be comparable. I think someone who is a great player at a young age should not have the same salary as a great player in their prime. At the very least applying a 3rd year entry level rule from when they are first rated in our league (provided they play say 40+ games to achieve that rating). Seeing as how there is interest in this idea maybe we should start voting on the actual importance of some of the attributes has to do with a salary. Maybe group ratings such as (SC, PA, PC) as one set. (SP, SK) (IT, ST, DF) (EX, LD) (DU, EN, DI) Just shooting out some ideas. More offensive players are gonna get more money and two-way players will average out nicely.

how would the salaries of guys overseas work? i.e. Jagr, he technically has no NHL salary..... I can't imagine us actually using NHL salaries so it's a non-issue but in other leagues they set up certain OV ratings equals a certain salary.

$1,000,000 for any player rated 70+ plus $250,000 for any OV rating point over 70 plus $250,000 added to salary for every year over the age of 25 plus $250,000 added to salary for every SC point over 75 plus $250,000 added to salary for every DF point over 75
i dunno...talkin in my sleep lol..but i could see such a system work
im sure the commissioner will address this issue either this year or next

I'd say there'd have be a bracket from like 26-34 for age ... b/c once you hit 35 these days (for the most part), you're looking at less money.

True, but if you are 35 and still a superstar you are likely getting more money than you ever have.

I don't see Skinner ever making the NHL BJ. I know Crombeen isn't worth that much but he will help fill in a roster spot on the third or fourth line of my team while others develop and push him down the depth chart.

could be, crombeen was almost dropped to waivers but somebody beat me to a waiver claim so I had to keep him.
Figured you were interested so just wanted something intriguing in return. we both win
