I have a question about players that are in this year's draft but are already on teams in our league. Two that come to mind right away are Danny Syvret and Jordan LaValee. Since they've been claimed through waivers, can we not draft them?

As far as I know if a North American player opts into a draft and is passed by all teams he can be claimed off of waivers right after the NHL draft (same for players who are passed in our draft). Now a Euro player is a different story. According to our rules even if a Euro is passed by 30 teams in the NHL he can't be claimed in our league until he is really drafted by an NHL team. Kind of confusing.

Basically any player not born in North America must be a) over the age of 18 b) drafted by a real NHL team *OR* by a team in the GMH. Waiting on the official IIHF documents, but I assume that rule will remain.

b/c once he's filed for retirement, you can't use him anymore immediately. It'd be different if he just left ofr overseas. That was the exact reason why I waived him. I knew he wouldn't be eligible for our league. If he un-retires, not likely, then you can use him but for right now he is retired so you can't use him. If he was still eligible in our league, no way I would have put him on waivers. I still need a backup goalie. Can anyone help me out with that situation?

So does that mean we aren't allowed to draft players like LaValee and Syvret, as well as players in the same situation (opted out of last year's draft and have been claimed by a GMHL team)?

LaValee and Syvret were both passed over in last year's draft, and are from North America, so they can be claimed via waivers. Someone like the guy that led the Russian League in scoring last year (can't remember his name) cannot be claimed via waivers, cause no one has drafted him in either NHL or GMH.

I swear I remember Yared Hagos being on my team, I could be wrong but I am 85% positive....and I could have dropped him but I don't see the history of me dropping him the waiver claims.

I liked my pickup of DeBoer. He's going to be at preseason to see what he can do for our club.

the club stated that "if Evseev (another 50 rated player) managed to have a 10 goal season, theres no reason to doubt DeBoer can notch 30"
