Jaroslav Balastik is on Columbus. Phoenix, shouldn't I have gotten Steve Goertzen? Hmm - I remember reading that in an email, but for some reason I didn't write it down. I'll add it to your list, sorry. I think we need to change our waiver system ... I understand that we want the bad teams to get better, ect. ... but I think we need to reset the waiver priority in each claim period. Realistically, one of the high waiver teams could've every single one of the new NHL players this week. My thoughts? Prioritize the waiver claims. 1. I want to claim XXXXX XX. 2. I want to claim XXX XXXXX. and prioritize the drops. 1. For the first claim in which I'm successful, I drop XX XXXXXX. 2. If both my claims are successful, also drop X XXXX. So if a team with a high waiver gets his first claim, for his second claim he will move below every other team that did not have a successful claim. If he and another team put in a claim for a second player, he would need to remain ahead in the waiver priority to land said player. it might sound a touch complicated ... and if everyone thinks this is a good idea, and Praline's worried about extra work for him, I'd be happy to take on waiver claims as a responsibility. Thought? In the past, we did a waiver draft prior to the season where it was one pickup at a time, in order, til all waiver claims were processed. Since this is no longer part of the new cba, we did it standard waiver style, where all of Edmonton's processed first, etc. In the NHL, Pittsburg had first priority, and if they put in 20 claims, they would have recieved 20 players before anyone else in the NHL could act. During the season, I prefer giving the 30/29/28 teams first shot at everything. At higher waiver times (first waiver of the summer, first waiver after preseason end) I would rather have the waiver draft as we've done in the past. But overall, I like the league to mirror the NHL as much as possible. It's something we can change for next year's end-of-preseason-waiver-claims...or not. Waivers mean a little bit more in our league then they do in the NHL, so it makes sense to stray from the CBA a little bit. But we'll have a vote in the offseason to decide. However, I would not want to have waivers "draft-style" every week.

not to mention, no team in the NHL rebuilds the way teams in our league do (ie. have next to no (rated) talent while acquiring picks, surprising players via waiver claims, ect.). In the NHL, no team can afford to put claims in on five, 10, 15 players. This didn't affect me at all, b/c I got both players I put claims in for ... but it was just a thought I had. Certainly not trying to rock the boat.

03-04 Penguins and end of the season 03-04 Capitals were as bad as any team in our league has been.

Alright Jamie Heward!!!!!!!!
Logs the most ice time on the Caps and plays on the 1st pp unit.
Should get a decent rating if that keeps up.

Jeff Hoggan is just going to be a depth player for me, he's playing 4th line in STL right now but playing fairly well. He'll be about a 70-71 when all is said and done this year. That's if he continues to play on the team and he doesn't get hurt.

34. Is the 'Shocked' smiley really necessary? No. Low budget special effects. Like the ones you see in a ben affleck movie.

I wouldn't be surprised to see his ice time start to decrease as they give guys like Eminger, Green, and Morrisson more time. Good waiver pickup though.

I made a claim for Heward. Aren't I higher on the priority than Wally?? I've heard this from a couple different people over the last couple of weeks. Are waiver claims being sent in with lines files? When I get an email from anyone in the league with an attachment, I download the attachment and usually don't stop to read the email (it's cold, I know). Not that I don't care about you guys or anything, it's just a lot of email to go through. However, if you're including things like roster position changes or waiver claims I'm missing them, cause lines emails go right to my delete box after I download them. As of right now (Mon oct 17 - 2pm) I have waiver emails from Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Rangers. And there's one from me too. If you're a team that has put in a claim for this week and not on the short list above, please resend it. Thanks.
