Ya I suppose the deal should be approved but it should never have been done. Why? Flyers told me he has a ton of good young players. He said he could afford to let 1 go to shore up some holes in his line up.

Meh...if you want Columbus' humble opinion, the deal stinks bad...way over 60/40. When a player is a young up and coming superstar, like Datsyuk, his value goes way beyond just stats and numbers.
A superstar player doesnt get traded for a bag of bones. Handzus is stuck in Philly as line 3 center and hes big, but not ver coordinated lol. Kozlov was already dissapointing lately...now being traded to a solid NJ team, his ratings will take a hit until he gets "recognized" for his defensive play on a 3rd line. Mitchell is a player thats a dime a dozen.
Thats all i have to say, i will stay oot of it now

Mitchell is a player thats a dime a dozen. Because every team is scattered with 74 OV 74 D players to waste away? 68 OV players are a dime a dozen.

This deal makes nothing but sense for me. I already have my No. 1 center for the next 10 years, Marleau, who is younger and more of an all-around player — including leadershipwise, which is VERY important come playoff time in our league. So right now, instead of having McAmmond or Dupuis on my second line, they're third line players. My top two are:
Marleau-St. Louis-Sturm Handzus-Kozlov-Prospal
So my top two lines still have no one over 29, and my other lines have young guys that are shooting to be top line players (Dupuis, Lombardi).
Handzus will be on my top PK with St. Louis, maybe giving me the best PK lines in the league (my defensemen are ALL defensive-minded). Granted, Kozlov could go either way, but every deal has a risk. I also got younger on D with Mitchell and gave up a pick I really don't need that much (late 2nd) and swapping firsts shouldn't matter too much ... five or six picks tops, I'd say.

I think the deal is fine, and you guys need to learn the difference between winning a deal and ripping someone. This isn't a rip.

I dont like the deal cuz its a first liner for a future 3rd liner and what a late 2nd who could be a bust to may a 3rd or 4th liner.

The deal was Handzus, Kozlov and Mitchell for Datsyuk, Rathje and a second-rounder (TB's). We also swapped first-rounders.

New York Islanders and Pittsburg Penguins have reached an agreement. To New York Islanders: Andrei Markov Simon Gagne Boston 2nd round pick in 05 NYI 2nd round pick in 05 To Pittsburg: Tom Poti Patrik Elias Approved by Chicago I think this trade is prett brutal.... Pitts gets raped IMO. Our league doesnt value picks enough. Markov could easilly and may alreayd have surpass/ed Poti and Gagne can produce enough to be a 1st liner when prompted... then 2 2nd rounder? yikes...

Elias is a top 10 player in the league that plays his position. 70-80 pts average. Gagne is what 40-50 pts and not in top 15 at his position. Hence the 2nd rounder. Markov is still unproven. Poti will be on NYR power play and will put up more points than Markov will hence the other 2nd rounder.
