Both Salmelainen and Taffe are projected to be 2nd liners. Koivu is currently a 2nd liner (although he plays first line on Montreal). My opinion is that Taffe is going to end up with similar ratings to Koivu in two or three years, but I want that kind of production now, so I threw in Salmelainen. Plus Koivu is injury prone, and could die of cancer at ANY MOMENT...heh (i hope that doesn't offend anyone). I've got Selanne (who will prolly disappear soon). I've got Gelinas (who will prolly disappear soon). I've got Sean Hill (who will prolly disappear soon). So I thought I'd try to get a guy who has good ratings who I wouldn't have to overpay for cause he's on his way out as well. I'm not arguing, it's obvious some of you don't think the trade is within boundaries, and that's cool. I just wanted to offer some insight into my I made this trade. Knowing that I'm trying to add an impact player without hurting my current roster, what would you recommend to make the trade more even? Well Saku Koivu might not be a franchise player but hee'd be a 1st line center on most teams in this league. His rating shows that he's a 1st line center and an all-star one at that. Taffe is decent a 2nd liner like you said probably on the wing though with Comrie ahead of him. Salmelainen isn't a clear cut 2nd liner. He has potential but he's nothing special like Taffe. Also 3rd round picks are treated like garbage in this league (I had to deal a high one and a low one to make up the difference between Rachunek and Boynton ). I think you'd have to take out Salmelainen and switch him with a younger foward who is rated pretty good. Also make your 3rd a 2nd and take out his 4th. Just to keep things fair I have sent an offer his way just like people tried to outbid me many times.

Its not the worst deal we have ever seen. In my opinion it is not within 60/40 but its not too far off. Great dealing on Praline's behalf lol I agree with Blues. If it was someone better than Salmy it might be 60/40. My opinion is there is a BIG difference between players "projected" to be 2nd liners and players that "are" second liners. If you look at scouting reports, half the prospects in the league are "projected to be top six forward" and there will never be enough opportunities for even half those prospects to reach that status. As for Koivu, he is defiantely an all-star player. the guy, through injuries and cancer, is now a man of steel.

If I can give a better offer than Phoenix can then I should be able to get him No. Once a deal is posted it's official. If it's not 60/40 we work to get it 60/40. If the 2 teams can't come to an agreement then the deal is scrapped. The team that has less than 40% can't back out once it's posted cause he got an offer after it was posted. He should have done his shoppin before he made the original deal. Plus it's not fair to the GM who is tryin to even up the deal.

Just waiting to hear back from EDM. I'm not in the eye of the hurricane but the winds are blowing like 40mph here. Our power has gone out a couple times.

Maybe you and Tampa should talk because you clearly have different philosophies.

To the San Jose Sharks: Sheldon Souray Bryan Berard To the St. Louis Blues: Sergei Gonchar Darren McCarty San Jose's 2nd Round Pick in 2005 I don't think this will get approved.

I said the same thing when I first looked at it, but after thinking about it for a minute I think it's pretty fair. I mean obviously SJ is giving up a little more in Gonchar but Souray is a very good defensmen. And St. Louis is giving up more in Berard so they pretty much even each other out.
