Deal between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Calgary Flames: To Calgary: Kyle McLaren and Nolan Yonkman. To Columbus: Jay Pandolfo, David Tanabe and Pittsburgh's second round draft pick in next years draft. Pending It's always good to see a division rival start to tank the season

I dont think Columbus is tanking, hes changing things up cause hes made like 3 trades in the last few days.

Trading your top point scorer (Leetch), then downgrading Niedermayer to McCabe( ), Daze to Malik( ), and now trading a good physical defensive defensemen for a good 4th liner, a fringe bust defensemen, and a 2nd isn't gonna improve the record. What he needs is to get some guys off of waivers to cure his ills

What he needs is to get some guys off of waivers to cure his ills Im not tanking. I had to move a defencemen and although McLaren is not my worst defenceman, it made the most sense to trade him. I was losing so I needed to make trades. I needed more experience at the top six forward level. For the most part, all my forwards are still young, unlike you. I traded one near-retiree Leetch, for another..Hull...a drop in two OV points. But I got Dempsey too who has the same DF as Leetch and hes only 29. McCabe and Nieds are both 82, McCabe being younger. Nieds is better than McCabe but both are elite with McCabe being better defensively and less offensive. Daze is rated only 76 and a risk for injury, so I got Malik in the deal who has an 82 DF rating to take McLarens spot. With Pandolfo, I get that nice bottom-six defensive winger, along with with David Tanabe..who will most likely be a good one. On some depth charts hes rated 2nd on Phoenix's defensemen lines. Got a 2nd rounder as a throw-in

Im not tanking. I had to move a defencemen and although McLaren is not my worst defenceman, it made the most sense to trade him. I know your not "tanking" it was more of a joke. Why do you feel you had to trade a defensemen? Especially a 77 OV top pairing defensemen who has a decent DF and is still very physical. I was losing so I needed to make trades. I needed more experience at the top six forward level. For the most part, all my forwards are still young, unlike you. If you want to take shots at my team instead of talking about yours thats alright. Im happy with Marian Hossa, Justin Williams, Shawn Horcoff, and Mike Fisher. (Add in the fact im most likely getting Gagne and I have top foward prospects in Alexandre Picard and Mike Richards and borderline Loui Eriksson.) None of my fowards are retiring soon anyway. I traded one near-retiree Leetch, for another..Hull...a drop in two OV points. But I got Dempsey too who has the same DF as Leetch and hes only 29. Wow Demsey and Leetch have the same DF Want to compare their offensive ratings? Also Hull is gonna retire a few years before Leetch and Leetch is still an elite defensemen on any team. He's 37 I believe he'll have the ability to still play until he's 40+ it depends how much he wants another cup (he did agree to get traded to the Loafs). McCabe and Nieds are both 82, McCabe being younger. Nieds is better than McCabe but both are elite with McCabe being better defensively and less offensive. Well the thing about that is taking a quick glance at McCabe's career show's how inconsistent he is. He is way overrated this year. You saw how he was close to wearing Orange and Black in the playoffs right? I forget how many goals he handed to the Flyers. Also you say he's better defensively well IMO a 79 DF isn't much higher than a 78 DF. Also Niedermayer is Mr. Consistency who carried the Devils throughout the season. Figures you deal him to Wally too Daze is rated only 76 and a risk for injury, so I got Malik in the deal who has an 82 DF rating to take McLarens spot. Again you deal for a way overrated player. Malik has one good rating...an 82 DF. Any team would love an 82 DF but Malik is a pylon. He's slow, not physical, and his offensive skills are pretty close to nonexistant. Daze on the other hand is a 30+ goal scorer when healthy and eventually he'll be healthy. Can't blame ya on dealing him I don't like him but you could of done better than Malik. With Pandolfo, I get that nice bottom-six defensive winger, along with with David Tanabe..who will most likely be a good one. On some depth charts hes rated 2nd on Phoenix's defensemen lines. Got a 2nd rounder as a throw-in Pandolfo's alright i'd love him on my 4th line but he's no more than an average 3rd liner besides his good DF. Tanabe is a joke especially rating-wise. You talk about DF this dude's got a 63 The only thing decent about him is his speed and skating. He was horrible on Carolina and he couldn't last a whole season on Phoenix. He is a wild card who may be worth it but no way i'd want to trade McLaren and the only defensemen im getting back is him. The 2nd rounder is decent but Pittsburgh's also a top team this year so we'll have to see how high it is.

Blues, sometimes man, i swear...you are so arrogant lol. like seriously, you have your opinion and you have your own "judge of talent" and I have my own. Stop pickin apart all my sentences I like the deals I've done. As for McCabe, since I see tons of Leafs games here in Ontario, I know what he brings to the table. My opinion on McLaren is that hes a good, nasty d-man but I dont think he's been as good as hes been billed to be.

I actually really like McCabe. I love his game and the style of hockey he plays. He's a heart and soul player which is uncommon for a player as good as him. I just think Niedermayer is heads and tails better.

Thus, you don't own the BlueJackets. It was more of a shock and confusion thing. I needed to know why

I thought the most recent trade by blues was another rip off. 3 1st rounders alone was worth what he got back in return. The way things look Bostons 1st rounder will be crap and 3 3rd rounders in a deep draft year is good... not to mention Nylander was going the other way. Who cares about Alberts, hes trash anyways. But St Louis will go on a rant no matter what. He knew Bostons 1st rounder was losing stock so he dealt it cause I tried to get it in the off season and he said it was too high of value since at the time Boston didnt look so good.

Ok well, I diden't need Nylander because I'm in a rebuilding process(rebuilding my own mistakes I know) so I got some really good things in return, the way I see it. Nylander and a 3rd for a 1st and 4th is pretty fair, any team would be happy to get that in return for Nylander, cpessially one that wants to be younger, and like you said, in a deep draft, obviously the more 1st round picks I get the better, Alberts for 2 3rds, is mabey overpaying, I'll admite that, but Alberts is someone I like alot, I think he'll be a pretty good player and he fits into my team alot better then Nylander(although I'll admite I'm hoping for him to be traded into a better situation then he is in Boston, all though he could make the team soon, probley a season or so in the AHL after he graduates this year) I don't know wether or not we're having a 3 or 5 man red shirt in this draft. If we have a 3 man red shirt, good I'm set, if we have a 5 man red shirt, I could either opt out or I still have some decent picks in the 4th so it really doesen't matter, so I don't really see where preds has a problem, I'm still looking for Boston to come to earth alittle bit, don't think he'll make the playoffs, sorry boston
