Montreal Hires head coach Gilbert Perrault
Montreal-The Canadiens announced today the hiring of new head coach Gilbert Perrault. The once great Buffalo Sabres captain was a surprise announcement. "It was an easy choice for us. Gilbert is a great guy who has always shown leadership on and off the ice" said GM Scotty Bowman. I had the pleasure of coaching him a long time ago in Buffalo and always knew if I had an opportunity to get him to coach I would." Many people in the local media were left scratching their heads by the decision. "We know that this team has a reputation of going after top flight coaches and playa's, but it was time to get back to basics with this extremely talented team. We can not afford to miss the playoff's with this roster, and if we have the misfortune to rebuild we now have the guy behind the bench to stick it through. Either way we win" proclaimed Owner and President Szajnberg. " Coach Perrault was limited on answering any questions on his sudden rise to coaching. " I like what I see, there is alot of leaders in this locker room and it makes my job easy. These guys know how to win, that's not a question, they just need more time together on the ice. Only time will mesh these lines together. This time off has helped us gel as a team. I've been around allot great playa's in my time and I've never been this excited about a team. Let's just go out there and have fun; Old skool hockey is what we are going to play, give up the body for a goal. Get in front of the net and take that beating. Sacrifice everything for the only common theme "TEAM." All I hope is that we surprise some teams that have counted us out." Coach Perraults assessment and high goals maybe hopeful at best, but once the games get going again only the box scores will tell the real story. Let's just hope that they are kind to us.
As always:
GO HABS GO!
