Bertz wasn't really still a prospect that old ... he was playing in the NHL, he just hadn't found his game yet. He had 18 goals as a 20-year-old, then lagged off some.

I'm going to be a little more in-depth, simply so I can look back on it next year and see where I differ in my opinions.
1. Mike Cammalleri • C • LA — Acquired in the St. Louis-Doan/Horton traded. He's gotten lots of NHL ice time, but is still a prospect. I don't know if the kid's an all-star or anything, but right now I have to consider him my No. 1 after his dominance in the AHL last season.
2. Jason Pominville • RW • BUF — A pick-up from the talent-rich Panthers, along with three second-rounders for a 2005 mid-first rounder. Pominville's the top NHL-ready RW in the Sabres' system. He got a one-game look with the big club in 2003-04, and was 30-38-68 with Rochester last year. Given the Sabres' inactivity during free agency, he should get a good shot.
3. Tim Ramholt • D • CAL — Drafted in the 2003 draft early in the second round by previous Flyers GM. The big thing with Ramholt is getting him overseas from Switzerland. The other hurdle is fighting his way through the Flames' glut of defensemen. Not only is the NHL club solid on the blue line, but No. 1 prospect Dion Phaneuf is in the way, too. He's a good two-way guy, according to reports, and has OK size.
4. Sean Collins • C • COL[/b] — Picked up off waivers. This is probably a little high for him, but given the Avs' woeful system, he could make the NHL well before some of my other guys. He had four solid years at UNH and could get a chance to contribute.
5. James Neal • C • DAL[/b] — Drafted in the second round of the 2005 draft. He's one of the top two centers in the Stars' system, and if he fills out he could be a legit power forward. His skating needs to improve for him t make a big impact.
6. Clayton Stoner • D • MIN[/b] — Drafted in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. He appears to be the best pick of my draft last year. Stoner started off with an NHL body when drafted, and last year added some point-production to his game (12-34-46 compared to 7-24-31 the season before, and he played 11 fewer games last season). he's big, tough and willing to be physical. He just signed his first pro deal, so I should learn more this year.
7. Johan Franzén • C • DET — Selected in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. He's already 26, but he just got signed to come overseas, and could immediately make the Red Wings. He's not going to be anything sensational, but he has consistently been one of the best players in the SEL, plus represented Sweden at the World Championships (scoring the lone Swedish goal in a 5-1 loss to the U.S.). He could be a third- or fourth-line pivot.
8. Johan Fransson • D • DAL — Late first-round pick in 2004 draft. So far, a disappointment, but it's still early. This Swedish blueliner is highly skilled offensively, but still a defensive liability and has a rep as being soft. The upside is there, but at this point he's hit or miss.
9. David Booth • LW • FLA — Drafted in the second round of the 2004 draft. His sophomore slump at Michigan State carried over to his junior season, so there's some reason for concern. If he reaches his potential, he could be a power forward in the NHL. His work ethic and energy should get him to the NHL in some capacity.
10. Mark Tobin • C • TB — Selected in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. Had 22 goals each of the last two seasons with Rimouski ... but I might have been able to score 22 playing with Sid Crosby, and I can't even skate. He's a gritty player who give it his all every time out. If he makes it, it'll be thank to that determination and his defensive prowess.
Who's Left Victor Oreskovich — My third round pick in 2004 ... stunk it up at Notre Dame as a freshman. Aaron Rome — An NHL-ready d-man, but will probably be buried long-term by Anaheim's defensive depth. Ben Bishop and Andrew Thomas — Too soon to tell with these 2005 picks. Ryan Munce — At a crossroads ... needs to prove he can play in the NHL after getting constantly pelted with shots with Sarnia. Tom Maki and Ryan Donally — Two CAL prospects that are close to disappearing into obscurity. Dany Sabourin — Outperformed M-A Fleury with Scranton/W-B last year. He might have a chance to be a fill-in backup somewhere this year in the NHL if the chips fall right.

I may end up regretting trading J-Pomm to you. I wasnt aware that he must clear waivers before being sent down this year (3rd year pro) so it looks like he will playing in the NHL, in Buiffalo or somewhere else

Yeah ... it's either him or Adam Mair as the 4th RW ... I doubt they'd want to lose him so they can play Mair.

TSN still has him listed with COL on his player page, but he's not mentioned on their depth chart. Anyone know anything about this? Given their depth at center, they could use him... McLean, Hahl (gone overseas??), McCormick and Richardson as 3-6 on the depth chart? And Turgeon on the second line ... ugh.
