Also, I dont see how people are saying that its not possible to have our first round done before the NHLs. It is entirely possible, all we have to do is shift our season back 1 month in order to finish 1 month early and have our first round of our draft done before the NHLs. Simple. We cant do it this year, but if we plan for it next year then it'll be better. Also that way our offseason will be better in a sense that it will be 1 month shorter since our season starts early and the NHLs ends "later" in a sense now. Our offseason would only be like 2 months. (when I say offseason i mean time between either GMHL action or NHL action.) Couple things: Having the draft a month early means we wouldn't get the ISS Guide in time. And that kind of sucks for those of us who can't watch these guys live or on TV at all. Also, I think that throws a kink in our trade deadline and retirement rules ... lots of players call it quits during preaseason and the start of the season. This would allow those players to play on our team for a long period of time. No good, IMO. As for the comments about "what's on the line" ... just look at the results. The NHL, scouting services, us, everyone ... has some hits, some misses, ect. I would completely disagree that the effort is any different ... the NHL teams probably start with those guides as a way to see who they want to further evaluate. They certainly can't see extended games of hundreds upon hundreds of players, particularly overseas where some teams have one scout. There's a reason the CSS and ISS Guides are known so well ... the NHL teams use them. If the NHL scouts knew so much, they wouldn't use the CSS and ISS and they'd also be right all the time. Again ... the prevailing term here is crapshoot.

well, this is a retarded argument, not the points you bring up, but the fact that we cant gain much of an edge through the draft in our league and that no one wants to do anything about it. People are stubborn.

It's 24 hours per pick ... some simply need to take all that time, be it b/c of indecision, trade talks, getting to a computer, ect.

I don't know why people are against doing it, it just makes no sense to me.

we cannt do our draft before the NHL draft....last year 1st rounders were being drafted in the gmhl 4th round which wasnt fair.....if we did our complete draft before the NHLs then there could be 1st rounders being picked up on our WAIVERS....the people who are argueing for the earlier draft r only doin it cuz they got lucky last year and their picks were picked higher in the NHL draft then the GMHL draft....if Setoguchi was picked in the 5th round last year then i'm sure Preds would wanna do our draft the day of the NHLs....

we could time it so that no people get drafted before our draft is done; we don't need to go exactly in sync with the NHL. I'm sure everyone would fine gems and/or pick people far too high.

LOL, i didnt get so lucky as to take a 1st rounder in the 3rd or 4th or whenever they went, so you're way off there.

I'm definitely a lot more excited about this year's draft than last year since I have 3 picks in the top 35. Last year, I traded away my 1st and 2nd rounder, so I didn't care too much.
