Desjardins and Jonsson are basically the same player except Jonsson is five years younger. I don't mind this trade as much, but I think a better draft pick should be included instead of 3 4th rounders. I actually think the Desjardins for Jonsson deal is within the 60/40 standards. As a rule of thumb it is considered two picks in one round are equal to one pick in the round above the two picks. Of course two 2nd rounders aren't worth a top 1st but that is beside the case. 2 4th round picks equal the value of a 3rd rounder. I think a 3rd rounder makes up the difference between Desjardins and Jonsson to at least make it 60/40. Jonsson is a risk just like Desjardins. He gets another concussion and I think he's done.

That was a deal with a new gm. Has to be 55-45 like the Guerin one.

To Pittsburg: Pavel Datsyuk Brett Mclean Ottawa's 2nd rounder in 05 To Chicago Patrick Elias Scott Stevens WTF? Maybe its cause I don't like Datsyuk that much(although I tried to get him once:) ) but Elias is SOOO much better then he is, then Bret Mclean being a pretty good AHL player at best, maybe I'm looking at it wrong cause the way I see it it's basically Mclean for Stevens, which is crap....wally set me straight... It was Datsyuk and Ottawa's 2nd for Elias. And Mclean for Stevens. Stevens is pretty much finished. Mclean isn't a good ahler. He got ripped off by getting a 70 ov.

That's just bs...Mclean blows, Stevens has atleast a decent year left in him, and Stevens at decent is so much better then Mclean at his best, he got lucky in acouple games for us then he came back down, he's horrible...

Lies. Mclean was a good 3rd line center last year. He was so good Quenneville saw him all year in st. louis and told pierre lacroix to sign him. He's not flashy but he gets the job done.

No You Lie:P Mclean got lucky, he played with some good players (ala Bell, Calder, Ruutu, Sulliven), he's so tiny though, not very tough, wally keeps saying he'll play on the 3rd line or so for the avs, he coulden't even cut it with chicago again, he'd be down in Norfolk, hell he's not even that good in hersey right now....

Wally already heard my input about this deal. I think it's very close to 60/40 but im not sure if it's over Elias is the best LWer in the NHL yes he is even heads and tails better than Kovalchuk as of right now. Datsyuk is just another 1-dimensional Russian foward who has some sick skills but has also had a lot of help playing with Hull on arguably the best team in the league. A high 2nd and Datsyuk is close to 60/40 IMO cause Datsyuk isn't the offensive player Elias is and he never will be. That's not even taking into account the defensive player Elias is. A high 2nd can get you a decent guy but still not too many studs come outta the 2nd. Anyway I don't undertstand this trade for Pitts at all. He wants success so he trades his best player

If Stevens recovers fully from his concussion he could have another 3 years left. McLean sounds like a 4th line journeyman who got a decent spot on the Hawks who had little foward depth after their young guns. Bringing in Curtis Brown and Matthew Barnaby probably leaves McLean on the 4th line or in the AHL.
