Anyone else watch this fight? Calzaghe won in a split decesion, which was junk cause he dominated the fight outside of the 1st round...I've never heard of this guy, but apperently he's considerd the greatest European Boxer of all time, but he deffinatly needs to be marketed a whole lot more cause he's a frikken riot to watch...in round 10 he had Hopkins turned around and actually humped him before Hopkins dropped to the ground to pretend like he had been hit with a low blow, I've never seen Hopkins act like such a baby, but Calzage is a fun to watch, he rarly threw with much power but he dropped his fists alot to leave his face completly unprotected and basically slapped Hopkins alot which was hilarious, he has terrible technique (he comes in off balance ALOT) but it works for him he's now 46-0

yeah ... believe he was trained by his father and is very unorthodox. Not a big deal beating Hopkins (he's thru, though I didn't get to watch this one yet), but he man-handled Mikkel Kessler a few months back and the other fight I saw w/ him was one-sided. Impressive, but other than Kessler he hasn't fought an in-his-prime real tough opponent yet.

Boxing is done as a sport, ever since UFC went mainstream, and took over the sport of fighting, I am suprised to see boxing still last. I have nothing against boxing, but I believe UFC is more entertaining.
I thought Hokins would have won as I never knew who this Calzaghe guy was and was shocked this morning when I read the outcome of the fight.
But I did watch the UFC last night.

I have seen Calzaghe fight quite a few times and u guys are right the only tough opponent hes had is Kessler before Hopkins and it would be nice to see him fight some more real fighters hopefully now that is what he will do,but he says he wont leave europe as far as i remember so its probly hard to get him the good fights. I was to busy though watching St Pierre beat down Serra but I really like Calzaghe and i would have liked to see him beat Hopkins

Wasn't Hopkins in jail or something? I thought I read somewhere he trained while he was in prison.....
But this fight it's all set-up for a re-match. boxing has not been the same since tyson had his ear snack.

I'd disagree ... boxing is still pretty great, it's just that the heavyweights suck. Mayweather and Hopkins don't do much for the sport b/c they're all about defense and slow-down tactics, but the smaller guys are very entertaining, plus there's always guys like Pavlik out there. UFC's all right ... I get bored somewhat when they're just on the mat grappling.

I agree with Philly. You don't have to pick one or the other. Personally, I'll watch a big boxing match any day over a big UFC fight. I'm probably in the minority but I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who still watch both.
