I think opposite of most here....the top 10 should be (in no particular order) ovechkin, crosby, lehtonen, phaneuf, svatos, steen, meszaros, lindquist, carter, prucha because those guys have shown the ability to produce in the NHL.. That should never ever be an arguing point when discussing young players. It can bite you back so quickly, like with Nucks fans arguing the same thing in Richards vrs Kesler debates. Ryan projects to be a better NHLer than half of those guys. As do others.

when have their ever been Richards vs Kesler debates? I like kesler, he'll be a good leader, a good Pker and should be able to put in 20 goals a season, but I think Richards will be a better goal scorer

No he shouldnt. Steen has done something in the NHL, Ryan hasnt. So by your logic Jeremy Colliton has more value than Bobby Ryan? Damn right. Might as well start sending trade offers my way now.

This list is pretty fricken brutal but I dont think just cause Ryan is popular here means hes going to be good. I mean Pitts loves him and for some reason wally agrees for the most part with whatever pitts says, but theres more discrepancies on this list than Ryans rating. For one, I agree that Radulov is the best player in the CHL right now, but theres other discrepancies. LIKE SETOGUCHI NOT MAKING THE LIST. How the hell does roman Voloshenko make it and not setoguchi... thats retarded. Voloshenko is pretty decent but hes like a 3rd tier russian... big deal. I guess people will just have to wait. Also Seto is better than Ladd... Ive seen tons of ladd and hes not going to be some scoring forward that all you canes fans think he will... Unless he can make it as a "scorer" known for 90% of his goals being garbage and adding up to 30 a year, then he wont be a scorer... For some reason everyone is obsessed with the OHL. Oh and BJ you forgot to put Vanek in your top 10. Ill have 2 of the top 10 guys in Vanek and Lundqvist.
So my list is this: 40. Lauri Tukonen 21. Robbie Schremp 18. Mike Richards 17. Alexander Steen (should be higher, hes so good.) 7. Thomas Vanek 6. Henrik Lundqvist

So I had 6 guys and Setoguchi and Pouliot both could squeek into it by years end, though I doubt Pouliot does because of his brutal WJHC offensive wise. Setoguchi should be on there already, ahh well... Another guy I really like now, Ryan Potulny. This guy could win the Hobey Baker this year and is Philly's best kept secret.

No, Vanek doesnt make my top 10. Ive watched him and i still think he stinks No doubt you got Lunquist who I like, but honestly i cant stand vanek...just my opinion though and no, Colliton shouldnt be higher than Ryan...Colliton hasnt been handed a big role on his team like the 10 players I listed. All I am saying is that young players who are star players in the NHL should be first, then players that project to be star players in the NHL should be second (like Ryan), then your depth players (like Colliton)...but thats just my opinion.

And yes Pitts, Wally and I are like blood-brothers, we agree about everything.

I think theres more value to a player that has shown ability in 'the show'...thats why in normal years (non crosby-ovechkin years) HF is so off the mark with the calder race. There is a reason they call themselves Hockey's Future and not Hockey Now.

Why is Parise always over Richards in these lists? Richards averages 15:27 a games for Hitchcock (he should get an award for that). For example Carter averages 11:55. Anyway Parise averages 12:41 for the Devils a game and 2:22 on the PP. Richards averages 2:13 on the PP and 2:12 on the PK a game. He has shown offensively he is right on par with Parise (10 goals 28 points in 55 games w/ a +7 compared to 8 goals 20 points w/ a -10). Richards brings a physical aspect, a leadership aspect (he fights to motivate the team) and he his great defensively (see 2:12 on the PK a game for Hitchcock ). These guys were drafted in the same draft and both played well in the WJC's. Richards was the captain of Team Canada and he put in a decent amount of points playing on the 3rd line. Parise was USA's 1st line center and was one of the better players in the tournament. Don't get me wrong I really like Parise and look foward to seeing him play on future Team USA's but Richards is better right now and he will be better in the future.

There is a reason they call themselves Hockey's Future and not Hockey Now. well then they should either a.) remove those in the NHL now or b.) give the kids that have given some proof in the NHL some more props

I agree about the Parise to Richards comparisons... It makes absolutely no sense.
