Yeah I think we can just keep things the way they are. Activity has picked up over the past week with a few trades, more talk on boards, waivers are going to get going, and the draft is happening. I'm also in process of updating all rosters with updated ratings so that may also help to increase involvement. Hope to have that done by end of month. I've already got about 8-10 teams done and go on vacation next week, so won't have much time to do it next week, but still should not take me longer than the month.

I would like to say thanks to everyone who did keep this afloat. There are 3 reasons why this league isn't as active as it was 10 years ago.
1) People have different priorities and they put fantasy hockey on the back burner. Like I did when I knew I had my first child on the way. Now I have to stay active and hopefully find more time when the 2nd one arrives in February. It happens and we all have to realize that.
2) When the league was dropped by Paul (Phoenix) it went south in a hurry and didn't get back up and running for a few months. That also hurt the activity of the league and people lost interest. Also when there is little to no waiver claims, or months after the due date then it would get posted hurts the league also. We as a group have to be on top of keeping things rolling. No delays in the draft, waivers or even league play.
3) We need a website or start using the portal. This way it would pick up the activity in the league and attract fresh blood for the vacant teams. Using the Portal would mean little to no message board as it would all be done on the Portal. Sending in lines are uploaded directly to the portal, trade talk, waivers, contract negotiations. Everything that would make the league all that much better. I am there is free hosting out there to host a website or even the Portal. (GoDaddy comes to mind). Or another free hosting site. We have to look into that. It is an option.
This is just my opinion.

I'll be taking over waivers from now on. We're going to have a special waiver claim period coming up so GMs can clean up their extra teams and we can also process those claims due back in March that were never posted.
If you want to be in charge of setting up a website, go for it. I'm not entirely sure how it will be any different than this board tho.

Any chance we can send an e-mail specifically to these GMs asking them if they'd like to continue with the league by checking monthly? A few are pretty old GMs I think.

Most of those GM's are not active and have not been in several months or longer. I send emails to all GM's when I send out league files. I can probably delete some of those accounts but it really does not make a difference. We had thought giving GM's 2 teams would help with the activity of league, but to be honest, it really has not. I may as well say this now, this will be my last year running the league and possibly participating. If someone else wants to resume simming after this season, they can, but will have to pay to install the simulator as I can't transfer it to you. I think the league has run it's course, if we can get fresh GM's, think we would be in good shape, but it seems like that just hasn't happened. The only way I'm thinking we get new GM's is to do the league from scratch and have every team draft from nothing. But to even do that, we would need to have more interest. If we can generate the interest, I'll keep running the league, but to keep running it as is, just does not make sense when we see how bad some of these teams are and even the GM's with 2 teams is still not making a huge impact on league participation and activity.

Yeah I think you're right Adam. The league is far from what it was at its peak, and seems like everything we try to re-spark interest fails. New GMs become inactive the day they join and the GMs who used to be the core participants haven't logged-in for ~6 months now. As much as I hate to admit it, the league is dead, and has been ever since PHX abruptly stopped. Adam, you made a valiant effort and it's been appreciated, but the league just hasn't been able to recover its mojo from that months-long inactive period between PHX and you. Even if we send an email out, the trend is GMs show interest for a week, and then don't log-in for the next 6 months or maybe show a little interest in the draft and then go back to hibernating. I guess it's the call of the 5 or so active GMs remaining, but I just don't think it's worth your time anymore, Adam.

I say we play the season out and go from there.
Would suck to just fold like the leafs defense.

Well I plan on finishing out the season, but the website doesn't even work half the time for me to sim!! I just want to give a heads up that I am done unless we get some new GM's. Not saying we will fold, but maybe this will spark a fire on GM's to either recruit or get more active. If that happens, I'm happy to continue doing it.

Im very guilty for hangin the league dry as well. I feel awful about that especially since I suggested in active GM's taking on 2 teams and that didn't help
the positive ...how many leagues are into year 11 ??!! that is quite a feat we should be proud of??
Don't know what the future will bring? mayebe transferring our rosters to yahoo and we just follow the NHL?? no work for anyone, just enjoying hockey?? I dunno
this season is great with unlimited goals...Tavares with 206 pts in 50 games...it is refreshing!

Sounds good, thanks Wally. To anyone else who knows people, get them in here now. Would rather people join league now to see if they like it, so we can proceed for next year.
